Dubai authorities have arrested Dutch influencer and entrepreneur Samuel Onuha, 25, along with his younger brother Reuben, 23, on charges of smuggling 250 kilograms of cocaine into the United Arab Emirates. The seizure, valued at approximately $60 million, is one of the largest drug busts in Dubai’s recent history.
The brothers, known for their luxury lifestyle and co-founding the fashion brand Icon Amsterdam, were apprehended on March 1 during a raid on Samuel’s $50 million mansion in Palm Jumeirah. Authorities allege that the cocaine was trafficked from South America, passed through Amsterdam, and was intended for distribution within the UAE.
Dubai Police stated that Samuel is suspected of leading the smuggling operation, while Reuben is believed to have managed logistics and distribution. If convicted under the UAE’s stringent drug laws, the brothers could face up to 25 years in prison.
The arrests have sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many expressing shock over the allegations against the high-profile influencers. The case serves as a stark reminder of the UAE’s zero-tolerance policy on drug-related offenses.
As the investigation continues, the Onuha brothers remain in custody, and their legal team has yet to issue a public statement. The international community watches closely as the case unfolds, highlighting the severe consequences of drug trafficking in the region.
