His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, visited Sir Bani Yas Island to oversee ongoing tourism and development projects aimed at enhancing the island’s status as one of the UAE’s premier eco-tourism destinations.
During the visit, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the progress of various initiatives that align with Abu Dhabi’s sustainable tourism strategy. These include infrastructure enhancements, wildlife conservation programs, and the expansion of cultural tourism offerings that reflect the island’s historical and ecological significance. 
One of the focal points of the visit was the newly established Visitor Services Centre, designed to provide an immersive experience for guests while educating them about the island’s unique heritage. The center includes interactive exhibits on the island’s natural ecosystem, ancient civilizations, and its transformation under the leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Sheikh Hamdan also toured the Sir Bani Yas Church and Monastery, one of the oldest known Christian sites in the region, dating back to the 7th century. Recent archaeological excavations have shed light on the religious and cultural history of the island, and preservation efforts are underway to maintain these important relics for future generations.
Commending the development vision, Sheikh Hamdan praised the balance between conservation and tourism, emphasizing that Sir Bani Yas Island serves as a model for integrating environmental protection with cultural heritage and high-end visitor experiences. The island is home to the Arabian Wildlife Park, which shelters over 17,000 free-roaming animals, offering a rare safari-style experience in the Gulf region.
With luxury resorts, historical landmarks, and eco-friendly adventures, Sir Bani Yas Island continues to rise as a signature destination within the UAE’s diverse tourism landscape.
