Dubai, May 30, 2025 — The UAE has officially announced the dates for the Eid Al Adha holiday, granting residents a long weekend to mark one of the most significant Islamic celebrations of the year.
The holiday will begin on Thursday, June 5, with Arafat Day, the day before Eid and the most sacred day in the Islamic calendar. It will be followed by Eid Al Adha celebrations on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — June 6, 7, and 8.
Four-Day Holiday for Public and Private Sectors
According to the UAE Cabinet’s approved list of public holidays, both the public and private sectors will observe the break, giving employees a four-day holiday. Normal work is expected to resume on Monday, June 9. 
Eid Al Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. It is marked by prayers, charity, and festive meals with family and friends. Many also choose this time to travel or enjoy a short staycation within the Emirates.
A Boost to Domestic Travel and Tourism
The extended weekend is expected to boost tourism and retail activity across the country. Hotels, malls, and leisure destinations are preparing for a surge in local travel and holiday bookings. Travel agencies have reported increased interest in staycations as well as regional getaways to destinations like Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Turkey.
Public Reminders and Safety
Authorities remind residents to celebrate responsibly, follow safety protocols in public spaces, and remain hydrated amid rising summer temperatures. Special arrangements will also be made for Eid prayers, with mosques and prayer grounds opening early on Eid morning.
